Benevolence/Bereavement Committee

The Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church’s Bereavement Committee is committed to minister to the needs of our members at their hour of grief and pain.  The congregation recognizes that times of loss are difficult moments to endure alone.  The Bereavement Committee members will share in the responsibilities of expressing our love and concern for our members during difficult times.

The Principal task of this committee is to minister to the needs of Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church members who are hospitalized, identified as sick & shut-in, or bereaved.

The committee will:

  • Develop, recommend, and oversee policies and procedures which establish the guidelines for ministering to GPBBC members during sickness and bereavement.
  • Serve as a contact person who is knowledgeable about GPBBC policies
  • Contact bereaved families immediately after receiving notification
  • Work with other ministries in the church who  provide benevolent actions and make recommendations to the ministries.
  • Make recommendations to the Finance Committee for monies needed for ministering to people and coordinate special funding provisions for benevolent ministries.
  • Make quarterly reports to the church according to policy
  • Administer benevolence resources as needed
